Race Preview: GSPSS Title Battle Heats Up With Second Trip to Beech Ridge This Saturday

WALPOLE, N.H. -- The battle for the Granite State Pro Stock Series championship will heat up this Saturday, August 14, as the series returns to Beech Ridge Motor Speedway for the second and final visit of the year to the Maine oval. Last time out, David Oliver, a local regular, stormed to the front to defeat the series regulars and score his first career win in the 150-lap feature race.

This Saturday, another 150 laps are on tap, with $3,000 on the line to the winner. The action at Beech Ridge pins Granite State regulars versus the local Pro Stock favorites, with the local drivers coming out on top the last two times out.

Wyatt Alexander took his No. 96 to Victory Lane in the summer event last year, while Oliver was the dominant force in June. Just behind Oliver, Joe Pastore and Rusty Poland, two others with experience at Beech Ridge, finished on the podium.

For the return trip this Saturday, all four of those drivers are registered looking to continue their success. While they do battle, the series championship fight, led by Gabe Brown, enters the final five races of the season.

Brown is coming off a big win in the last Granite State Pro Stock Series event at Claremont Motorsports Park, a $10,000 to win special. The victory was the first in Brown’s Pro Stock career, and it also helped him open his championship lead to 34 points heading for the stretch run. Devin O’Connell, a former series champion, is second, while Josh King is third, only four behind O’Connell for second. Brown’s midsummer success, which also included a Late Model victory at Riverside Speedway, looks to be propelling him towards title gold.

Additional registered drivers for the 150-lap special include Tyler Tomassi, Angelo Belsito, Casey Call, Trevor Sanborn, Jacob Dore, Evan Beaulieu, Alan Tardiff, Mike Mitchell and more. Charlie Sanborn III is also expected to return to competition behind the wheel of the No. 1 machine.

Saturday’s race day schedule includes multiple practice sessions as part of a full day of weekly series racing, including the first session at 11:50 a.m. The first competition green flag will drop at 4 p.m. with Granite State Pro Stock Series time trials, followed by heat races and the 150-lap, $3,000 to win race. Tickets will be available at the track for both general admission and the pit area.
